The Avenue Cookery School is one of the leading cookery schools in London, offering fun cookery classes and courses for all ages and abilities. Being family run their main aim is for people to relax and cook while having fun and feeling at home. Their young-minded and relaxed team are seeking fluent English Cookery Teachers & Assistants to assist their Head Chefs, who will offer you full guidance and support.
They are a small, fun team bursting with energy and drive, who are seeking a like-minded, fluent English speaker who has a passion and knowledge of food, to join their family/team.
A real hard worker with the ability to share their passion and knowledge with others in a fun and relaxed way. A multitasker, who can get their head down and work quickly and efficiently while being easygoing, friendly and not afraid to muck in and get their hands dirty. The hours are varied but availability on weekends, evenings and Bank Holidays availability is a must. Fantastic future opportunities for the right person!
The role will include a number of teaching/cooking duties starting as an assistant with the potential to grow quickly into one of our leading Cookery Teachers.
KITCHEN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting Head Chefs
Mis en place
Assisting during cookery classes
Helping and guiding students
Recipe testing
Helping with general kitchen upkeep, including washing up and deep cleaning
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Amazing verbal communicator in fluent English
Experience in a kitchen/good knowledge of food
Attention to detail

Hours: Times vary but will include evenings and weekends.
This is a freelance position so your work schedule can be flexible to fit in with your life but we are looking for someone to become a part of the team, so we are looking for someone who can do regular shifts with us and grow into the role.
PAYMENT
Starting rates:
Assisting- 1.5 hour classes (avg. 3.5 hours) - £45
Assisting - 2 hour classes (avg. 5 hours) - £65
Assisting - 3 hour classes and YHC (avg. 6 hours) - £75
Assisting - 4 hour classes (avg. 7 hours) - £90
Assisting - 2 classes or a course day (avg. 9 hours) - £115
Assisting a full day including evening - £195
Experienced Assistant/Teacher Rates:
Assisting/Teaching - 1.5 hour classes (avg. 3.5 hours) - £50/£65
Assisting/Teaching - 2 hour classes (avg. 5 hours) - £75/£95
Assisting/Teaching - 3 hour classes and YHC (avg. 6 hours) - £90/£115
Assisting/Teaching - 4 hour classes (avg. 7 hours) - £105/£135
Assisting/Teaching - 2 classes or a course day (avg. 9 hours) - £135/£175
Assisting/Teaching a full day including evening - £225/£300
Please note these set rates are done on an average length of class with setting up and clear down time included. Note that some classes may go quickly and some may go over.

Due to some late nights and varying hours ideally, you would live in the South West London area. We need someone who can be flexible with working hours and can work weekdays/nights/weekends/bank holidays etc.
The Avenue Cookery School is a funky, fun business that has been running since 2004 so have years of teaching and cooking experience and look forward to having a new team member join their crew!
